O Tribunal da Propriedade Intelectual iniciou trabalhos em março de 2012 sendo, em Portugal, o tribunal cível competente para assuntos de PI (direito de autor e propriedade industrial), denominações sociais, nomes de domínio, concorrência desleal e segredos comerciais. A sua atuação reveste-se, pois, de uma enorme relevância para as empresas e para os titulares de direitos de Propriedade Intelectual em geral.

Em 2022, assinalando-se os 10 anos desta instituição, a Comissão de Propriedade Intelectual da ICC-Portugal organiza mais uma conferência de participação gratuita que terá lugar no dia 28 de junho, entre as 14h e as 18h, na sua sede, em Lisboa (Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, 89, 1169-022 Lisboa).

O evento contará não só com o contributo de magistrados do próprio Tribunal, como com a intervenção de especialistas em PI de vários Estados Membros da União Europeia (Espanha, França, Itália e Alemanha) que abordarão alguns tópicos relativos às respetivas jurisdições especializadas em PI.

Para além disso, o evento contará também com uma intervenção da Senhora Doutora Maria José Costeira, do Tribunal de Justiça da União Europeia, abordando aspetos práticos do funcionamento do TJUE.

Em homanagem ao Dr. João Gomes Esteves

Médico Veterinário de formação, trabalhou 25 anos no grupo Merck Sharp & Dohme, onde desempenhou funções nacionais, como Diretor-Geral, e também internacionais.

Destacou-se ainda como dirigente associativo.

A sua intervenção na vida associativa não se esgotou na área da indústria farmacêutica, repartindo-se por    diversas Instituições de âmbito profissional, de solidariedade, empresariais, universitárias e científicas.

Entre outras distinções, foi agraciado com a Comenda da Ordem de Mérito, pelo Presidente da República, em  2006, e recebeu a Medalha de Ouro do Ministério da Saúde em 2015.

A melhoria do sistema da Propriedade Intelectual em Portugal foi uma das muitas causas que apoiou.

The Intellectual Property Court began work in March 2012 and is the civil court competent, in Portugal, for IP matters (copyright and industrial property), corporate names, domain names, unfair competition and trade secrets. Its performance is therefore of enormous benefit to companies and to the holders of intellectual property rights in general.

In 2022, in order to signal the 10th anniversary of this institution, the Intellectual Property Commission of ICC Portugal organizes a conference - attendance FREE of charge! - that will take place on June 28, between 2 pm and 6 pm, at its headquarters in Lisbon (Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, 89, 1169-022 Lisbon).

The event will feature not only the contribution of judges from the IP Court itself, but also the intervention of IP specialists from several European Union Member States (Spain, France, Italy and Germany) who will address some topics related to their respective IP specialized jurisdictions.

In addition, the event will also feature an intervention by Ms. Maria José Costeira, from the Court of Justice of the European Union.

In tribute to Dr. João Gomes Esteves

After graduating as a veterinarian, he worked for 25 years for the Merck Sharp & Dohme group, where he served, at national level, as Managing Director, and also took up roles internationally.

João Gomes Esteves also distinguished himself as an association leader.

His participation in association life was not limited to the pharmaceutical industry, as he was also involved with several professional, charity, business, university and scientific institutions.

Among other honours, João Gomes Esteves was decorated by the President of the Portuguese Republic with the Commendation of the Order of Merit in 2006, and he was awarded the Gold Medal from the Ministry of Health in 2015.

The improvement of the intellectual property system in Portugal was one of the many causes that he supported.
